The Dynamic Fracture Laboratory has an opening for a (preferrably) PhD or M.Sc in experimental mechanics, on the subject of adiabatic shear failure. The candidate should have a strong background in solid mechanics (analytical and FE modeling) and willingness to learn elements of materials science as well as independent thinking. Excellent skills in written/spoken English are required. The candidate should be an Israeli citizen after military service. The research, to be carried out under the joint supervision of Prof. D. Rittel (Mech Eng) and Dr. A. Venkert (NRCN-Negev) involves dynamic experiments as well as transmission electron microscopy. The candidate should be able to travel as necessary to the south of Israel to work on the electron microscope with Dr. Venkert.
Interested candidates should contact Prof. D. Rittel at email@example.com or 04-8293261.
